Office of the Mayor - July 13, 2017
Mayor Allen Joines is accepting applications from city residents interested in serving on the Urban Food Policy Council, a new advisory panel the City Council authorized earlier this year to initiate and promote actions that increase food access in Winston-Salem, particularly in the city’s urban core.
The council will comprise nine city residents who serve staggered, three-year terms. The inaugural members will be appointed to three-, two- or one-year terms. Citizens who have an interest in such issues as food production, distribution, marketing, processing, consumption, access and other aspects of food policy are encouraged to apply.
Interested citizens should apply by July 31 to have their appointment considered by the City Council in September. The application form is available through the Boards and Commissions link at Mayor.CityofWS.org, or by calling the Mayor’s Office at 336-727-2058. Applications may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, faxed to the Mayor’s Office at 336-748-3241, or mailed to P.O. Box 2511, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27102.
