Office of Performance and Accountability

The Office of Performance and Accountability was created in February 2017 to better use data and evidence to manage operations. The office will oversee strategic planning and performance management strategies and serve as the lead department for open data reporting.

The office will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the utility of the City’s performance measurement system, promoting accountability and internal controls through performance and compliance auditing, creating and administering a performance management continuous improvement process, and conducting resident surveys to learn more about community expectations and perceived performance.

The office consists of the following two divisions:

Internal Audit
The Internal Audit division is an autonomous assurance and consulting service designed to add value and improve the City of Winston Salem’s operations by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Analytics Unit
The Analytics Unit was created in February 2017 as part of the new Office of Performance and Accountability. A fuller description of this unit is coming soon.
