Each year at this time, we pay tribute to all the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities and country. In 2016, 144 law enforcement officers nationally lost their lives in the line of duty. National Police Week also stands as a tribute to all those who are currently serving in their communities. The week of May 14 - May 20 has been set aside in observance of National Police Weemk.

State and local events of interest include:

Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. - The North Carolina Peace Officers Memorial Day Service will be held at First Assembly of God, located at 777 S. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Monday, May 8, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. - Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Vigil will be held outside the Public Safety Center, located at 725 N. Cherry Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. - The Forsyth County Law Enforcement Memorial Service will be held at Center Grove Baptist Church, located at 8750 Lasater Road, Clemmons, NC 27012.
