Community Appearance Commission
of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County

The Community Appearance Commission [pdf/22kb] of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County is a 15-member board appointed by the Winston-Salem City Council and the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. The Commission was formed in 1989 and includes citizens with a variety of career and life backgrounds. The primary goals of the Commission are to positively influence public and private development, advocate for appearance related issues in our community, enhance and protect the natural environment, raise public awareness through awards and education, and support an appealing image of the community.

Mission

The purpose of the Community Appearance Commission is to enhance the visual quality and aesthetic character of Forsyth County and the City of Winston-Salem for the residents and visitors for generations to come.

Meetings

The CAC meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 12:00 noon in the City-County Planning Board Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building. The principal work of the Commission is carried out within committees that meet once a month. All meetings of the Community Appearance Commission are open to the public. Copies of the meeting agenda and minutes may be obtained at the Planning Department.
