Police Chief Scott A. Cunningham
Chief Scott A. Cunningham assumed command of the Police Department on June 30, 2008. He has extensive experience in law enforcement, having worked through the ranks of the Tampa Police Department where he retired as the assistant chief of operations after a 24-year career, and two years service as the chief of the Cary, North Carolina, Police Department.
Chief Cunningham is committed to providing leadership that aggressively combats crime and strengthens the relationships of the department with the community. He has begun work to create safer neighborhoods through a comprehensive community safety plan that invigorates the department's attack on crime.
Chief Cunningham holds a bachelor's degree with a double major in history and forensic studies, a master's in public administration, and a doctorate in adult education and organizational management. He is a team leader for the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies.
