New Volunteer Opportunity for Citizens

Lenny's Water Watch!

Citizens of Winston-Salem are invited to participate in a new volunteer program, sponsored by the City of Winston-Salem's Stormwater Division and NC Cooperative Extension of Forsyth County.  Following an intensive two-part training, volunteers will monitor area streams for water quality through measuring chemical parameters and aquatic insects.  Participants will be provided with all necessary equipment and will be required to monitor twice a year.

The next classroom training is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Training will be held at the Visitor Center at Historic Bethabara Park, 2147 Bethabara Road.

In-stream training is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2008, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  In-stream training will also be held at Historic Bethabara Park.

To register, or for more information, call 747-6960.
