Recreation and Parks - April 12, 2018

More than 800 athletes ages 3 and up throughout Forsyth County will participate in the 2018 Special Olympics Forsyth County Spring Games, to be held April 18 -20 at the Glenn High School football stadium, 1600 Union Cross Road, Kernersville. 

The public is invited to come and cheer on the athletes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day as they compete in track and field events, including relay races, softball throw, and 50- and 100-meter dash, walk and wheelchair races. 

Opening ceremonies for the games will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, and will include Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines, Kernersville Mayor Dawn Morgan, Winston-Salem Police Chief Catrina Thompson and Danny Manning, the head coach of the Wake Forest University men's basketball team.

More than 700 volunteers are signed up to help run the games, including staff, faculty and students at Glenn High School.
