Historic Resources Commission - Oct. 4, 2019

The city will open the restored Union Station to the public for tours during October, November and December. The station is at 300 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The tours are free and no reservations are needed. Tours start promptly at the main entrance and doors are locked once the tour group enters.

Tour dates and times are:

  • Friday, Oct. 11, 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 8, 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 13, 3 p.m.

Free parking is available in the lot off Excelsior Street.

More than 800 people turned out on Sept. 7 for the ribbon cutting and tours of the station, which has been restored to its original appearance after being used as an auto-repair garage for more than 30 years. It currently houses the city's traffic-signal control operations. The rest of the city's Transportation Department offices will be moved to the station in the coming months.
